President Donald Trump was sworn into office on January 20th, 2016. Like many presidents before him President Trump gave his Inauguration Speech, this speech brought fourth many different opinions from news stations, such as CNN and Fox News. Just like any other magazine or news paper in the world what they reported was based on the bias of the News Reporters. In order to keep some of the bias out of their paper or to offend the readers CNN warned readers that the articles they were going to read were based on the authors opinions. Most of the writers were based on the opinions of Democrats or Republicians who did not want Trump as President. Writers such as Ruth Ben-Ghait wrote in CNN articles about how Trump spent his speech speaking for the American people but that he made it clear during that speech he made his definition of American people very clear. Ruth says in her section of the article, “…less than half hour after he was sworn in, the US Government webpages on climate change and LGBT Workplace Rights Advancement Report disappeared. It’s a clue as to what to expect from Trump’s administration: an assault on the causes and movements that don’t conform to Trump’s ethno-nationalist vision of what’s good for our country.”
While CNN attempted to be unbiased during their report of the Inaugurational Speech, Fox made no attempt to hide the bias and left it up to one writer to do so. While they only questioned what Trump’s course of action will be and if he will be able to accomplish his goals as President because during his Speech the President did not explain how he would accomplish these goals but only that he would put the power back into the people’s hands and that there was a lot of use in the word action during his speech. Fox News compared Donald Trump to another well respected President and the only doubt that was inflicted was when they close the article by quoting, ” James K. Polk didn’t need 100 months. He accomplished what he set out to do in four years, and then walked away from the job. The first presidential mic drop, if you will. Would that Trump will have the same option. That he gets what he wants done — then walks away.”
After watching his speech and reading the articles and the opinions of others it is clear that Trumps Presidency is bringing in a lot of tension from everyone from both parties. Only time will tell how much effect Trump will actually have on our policies but one thing is for sure that we are in for a very interesting four years.
