In School Nurse’s Room: Tylenol, Bandages, and Antidote to Heroin

It is no secret that kids in High School try drugs and do drugs while in school. In order to prevent the death of a child some schools have decided to start stocking their Nurse’s office with an antidote to Heroin. Their logic behind this is that while there is no comprehensive data to how often students overdose while at school but according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2015, opioids killed 7,163 people between the ages of 15 and 29. When this bill was first brought into effect it was a sad sign of the times. Through the state’s program, New York schools can now receive two doses of generic intranasal naloxone in a little nylon bag for free. While some schools are still not getting the antidote because they do not see a need and parents are on the fences because they do not like what having an antidote such as this one says about the school. The potential amount  of lives this antidote would save is worth the negative image.

Comparison of News Reports on President Trumps Inauguration Speech

President Donald Trump was sworn into office on January 20th, 2016. Like many presidents before him President Trump gave his Inauguration Speech, this speech brought fourth many different opinions from news stations, such as CNN and Fox News. Just like  any other magazine or news paper in the world what they reported was based on the bias of the News Reporters. In order to keep some of the bias out of their paper or to offend the readers CNN warned readers that the articles they were going to read were based  on the authors opinions. Most of the writers were based on the opinions of Democrats or Republicians who did not want Trump as President. Writers such as Ruth Ben-Ghait wrote in CNN articles about how Trump spent his speech speaking for the American people but that he made it clear during that speech he made his definition of American people very clear. Ruth says in her section of the article, “…less than half hour after he was sworn in, the US Government webpages on climate change and LGBT Workplace Rights Advancement Report disappeared. It’s a clue as to what to expect from Trump’s administration: an assault on the causes and movements that don’t conform to Trump’s ethno-nationalist vision of what’s good for our country.”

While CNN attempted to be unbiased during their report of the Inaugurational Speech, Fox made no attempt to hide the bias and left it up to one writer to do so. While they only questioned what Trump’s course of action will be and if he will be able to accomplish his goals as President because during his Speech the President did not explain how he would accomplish these goals but only that he would put the power back into the people’s hands and that there was a lot of use in the word action during his speech. Fox News compared Donald Trump to another well respected President and the only doubt that was inflicted was when they close the article by quoting, ” James K. Polk didn’t need 100 months. He accomplished what he set out to do in four years, and then walked away from the job. The first presidential mic drop, if you will. Would that Trump will have the same option. That he gets what he wants done — then walks away.”

After watching his speech and reading the articles and the opinions of others it is clear that Trumps Presidency is bringing in a lot of tension from everyone from both parties. Only time will tell how much effect Trump will actually have on our policies but one thing is for sure that we are in for a very interesting four years.

Inauguration performances

Jennifer Holliday once made a decision to agree to participate in the Presidential Inauguration but she began to get backlash from her fans, many of which are apart of the LGBT community. In a statement made on Saturday she apologized to her fans for he lapse in judgement  and that she did not realize that this decision made her a Trump supporter. While she may have made her decision to back out other stars, such as Toby Keith, defended his decision to perform at the Inauguration saying that he does not see it as performing for Trump he sees it as performing for our Country and our Military. The day before Holliday  backed out of the performance she was defending her decision to perform because she saw it as an opportunity to perform for the people but now because of the back lash she has no choice but to stand with the LGBT Community and not perform at the Inauguration Festivals  or at the Welcome Concert. Trump insist that he is not bothered  by the lack of A list celebrities but that the swearing-in is for the people and that it should not be about A list celebrities. People have to realize that bashing an artist for there political views goes against our right to political views or to believe what we want. Everyone is bashing our newest president because they believe he is going to take away all of their rights even though he has not done anything yet and most likely will not happen. We are doing that to the artist we are patronizing. The unfortunate thing for the artist is that they get criticism from which ever side they do not choose to agree with him. I am saying this from a stand point neither for or against either side of the political parties. I am for people having the right to actually say what they believe and not being bashed for their opinions.
